Dark Chocolate – a book that covers a dark topic
Out of all the many books I’ve read, I felt that All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven handled the topic of depression incredibly well while also making it an enjoyable read. The characters suffer from dark inner demons, which I feel can be some of the darkest of situations to read about.
White Chocolate – your favorite light-hearted or funny read
Although elements of the storyline were sort of dark, Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen made me swoon and laugh out loud with joy. Sarah is one of my favorite YA writers, and this one did not disappoint (possibly my favorite of hers yet).
Milk Chocolate – a book that has a lot of hype that you are dying to read
I keep hearing about this book by E. Lockhart called We Were Liars from almost every youtuber and well-known person out there. I enjoy reading/watching stories with dramatic plot lines so reading the description has already reeled me in. I can’t wait to get my hands on this!
Chocolate with a Caramel Center- a book that makes you feel all gooey in the middle whilst reading it
This category was incredibly obvious for me. When I think of gooey, I think of a beautiful love story with endless passion and cuteness, which is exactly what Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover is filled with. The male protagonist is deaf, and it shows the incredible relationship he has with someone with the gift of hearing, and how no matter what she doesn’t judge or treat him like someone with a disability. EEEK I’m getting that gooey feeling just thinking about it. Please pick this one up if you’re in need of a gooey and sweet romance!
Wafer-free Kit Kat- a book that surprised you
My high school friend Ally recommended the book How to Say Goodbye in Robot by Natalie Standiford to me, thinking it would be a fun coming of age novel. Let’s just say I read the entire book laying on my mothers bed one Saturday afternoon. It was the first book to make me sob so much that I had to take a shower so I can hide it from my mom. It engaged me so much I couldn’t put it down! The ending killed me, but I would still recommend this book to anyone who is ready for a surprise.
Snickers – a book you are going nuts about
I finished this book almost 1 month ago, but I still feel myself thinking about it! It’s called Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone and it’s perfection. First off, I tweeted Tamara and she almost immediately tweeted me back with the sweetest reply. It not only had an incredible plot twist, but the character was someone I could surprisingly relate to. I’m just so in love!
Hot Chocolate With Cream and Marshmallows – a book that you would turn for a comfort read
When I think of a comfort read, I think of a story that completely transports you to another realm. My first fantasy novel did just that and was not one to disappoint. Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern was the perfect mix of magical, enchanting, and suspenseful. I read this right in the midst of autumn, so I will always correlate the story with the warm aroma of hot drinks and blankets.
Box of Chocolates- a series that you feel has something for everyone
Now I sadly haven’t read this incredible series, but just from watching the movies I know Harry Potter is something for everyone. My sister was obsessed with this series and constantly talked about it to me, and yet I still haven’t gotten around to reading it! One day Liz, one day.
